(syllabus)
The course is divided in two parts.The first is devoted to learn the process of formation and the role of the Italian political parties in the XIX and XX Century, with reference to history of politics, of political cultures, of representation; citizens' organization and participation through parties, movements and associations. There is a specific focus on the birth of mass parties, fascism and parties' role in rebuilding democracy after the Second World War. The second monographic part, examines the birth, development and crisis of the myth of the Nation in Italy's contemporary history.
