BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
(objectives)
The course aims at: - explaining the specificity of "Organization" as a field of study and the characteristics of the subject "Business Organization"; - Providing some essential cognitive tools for dealing with the study of organizational literature and its evolution; - Developing and deepening the organizational design that, according to the mainstream approach, may be regarded as the main topic of a Business Organization course. In particular, we will analyze in detail the following organizational design choices: - the design of jobs and positions (work design) - the design of work processes (intra-organizational relationship) - the design of organizational structures (business structure) - the design of information systems - the design of organizational boundaries (inter-organizational relationship) - Introducing the issues of " human resources management " and "change management " (these issues will be the subject of in-depth study in the organization of master's degree courses); - Providing the students with the opportunity to handle tools for the analysis and interpretation of organizations, through the study of the contributions produced by some of the major authors of organizational theory and of business cases that illustrate and highlight organizational issues and practices adopted for their resolution. In order to introduce the students to the variety of concrete practices and to stimulate reflection on the articulation of the organizational choices to be faced, the course will combine: traditional teaching methods (lectures), useful for framing the complexity of the topics dealt with; exercises, carried out by the students, organized in team; speeches by firm executives; discussion of case studies.
