THE OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE IS TO DEVELOP METHODS FOR ANALYZING DATA, BEHAVIORAL MODELS AND INNOVATIVE SIMULATION TOOLS FOR THE EXPLOITATION OF THE HUGE AMOUNT OF DATA ON THE MOBILITY OF PEOPLE AND VEHICLES MADE AVAILABLE TODAY BY LOCATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES APPLIED TO MOBILITY. TO THIS END, THE COURSE AIMS TO GIVE STUDENTS THE BEST KNOWLEDGE ON HOW TO USE THIS EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION OF DATA THAT, COUPLED WITH INFORMATION PROCESSING CAPABILITIES, ALLOWS TO INTRODUCE NEW METHODS FOR MANAGEMENT, CONTROL AND ASSISTANCE OF MOBILITY THROUGH INFORMATION SHARING AMONG USERS, COOPERATION BETWEEN ROAD USERS (WITH DIFFERENT DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS), INTRODUCTION OF DEMAND MOBILE SERVICES (VEHICLE SHARING, CAR POOLING, A DETOUR ROUTE BUSES), AND TO DEVISE NEW FORMS OF CO-OPERATIVE TRAFFIC CONTROL.
