The course is based on a set of single-topic lessons that will address the following topics:
From the computer to the information system: evolution of IT systems and information systems;
Introduction to enterprise information systems: the context in which they are inserted, the needs for which a complex information system is designed and implemented, the main components of the system;
Operating systems: the main components of an operating system and the aspects that are delegated to this basic software;
Computer networks: the support technology for communication between computers, the TCP / IP communication protocol and the highest level application protocols;
Relational databases: information archives, relational model, SQL language, DBMS tools;
Data warehouse: models and tools for the management and use of large “informational” data stores;
Web based applications: basic concepts, languages and protocols and architectures for the development of web based applications;
Information system security: the structural and organizational aspects that must be addressed, also through specific hardware and software tools, to guarantee the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information;
Principles of Software Engineering: some notes on standards, methodologies, best practices to ensure the quality and correct engineering of software products, information systems and IT services.
