Prerequisites A good English level for reading articles and essays related to the course.
Course contents
The course consists of a single, 10 weeks UD, with 3 weekly lessons scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. At the end of the course, there will be an on-site lesson at “Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica”.
Programme of Wednesday-Thursday 10 lessons 1. The art of building. The building materials. 2. The art of building. The building techniques. 3. The art of building. Working site organization, walls and foundations. 4. The art of building. Roofing: slabs and roofs 5. The art of building. Roofing: arches and simple vaults. 6. The art of building. Roofing: complex vaults. 7. Stratigraphy of buildings. The basics. 8. Stratigraphy of buildings. Detecting the clues 9. Stratigraphy of buildings. Interpreting the tracks. 10. Stratigraphy of buildings. Analysis of construction phases.
During the following 10 lessons, students could read some articles of choice and discuss them together with the Professor. Please, choose from the list below: • Lynne C. Programme of Friday lessons During the Friday’s meeting, there will be 10 lectures given by experts in specific field of the archaeological research. The summary will be published at the beginning of the course.
