Moses and the Gods of Egypt
The course will address the biblical and extra-biblical traditions on Moses, focusing on his first years and the meaning of his "double identity" (Hebrew and Egyptian). The study of Moses tradition also offer an opportunity to discuss the approaches to Egypt of different authors and periods in Judaism, from the total refuse by Philo of Alexandria to the idealization by Artapanus. The course offers the opportunity to learn Biblical Hebrew (1/3 out of the teaching hours): students are recommended to attend the course also in the first semester (Ebraico). Students not attending Hebrew lessons will study an additional part of program.
Lessons will begin on February 24, 9.00 am: in this occasion the schedule of the course will be discussed.
