Course title 2019-2020: The apocryphal infancy gospels.
Module I: The apocryphal infancy gospels (1st-3rd century) Traditions on the birth and childhood of Jesus are not only contained in works that have become canonical (the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel of Luke), but also, and to a much greater extent, in an apocryphal literary production, interesting both from the point of view of content, as from that of phenomena of transmission that characterize it, paradigmatic of the fate of texts without a status of authority. The module aims to deepen, from various perspectives of investigation (philological-critical, linguistic-literary, historical-doctrinal) some of the oldest works, such as the Nativity of Mary (Protoevangelium of James), Liber requiei, Stories of Childhood [paidiká] of the Lord Jesus.
