(syllabus)
The course aims to provide an overview of important filmological and mediological issues by considering their aesthetic, cultural and theoretical-methodological aspects. In particular, it will consider both historically relevant authors and trends and more recent problems in relation to the topic of audiovisual storytelling. No particular prerequisite is asked for. However, basic skills in film analysis will be provided during the classes. Lessons will focus on general narratological issues and storytelling strategies in the U.S. audiovisual, with a focus on the cinema of Francis Ford Coppola.
