The course will focus on the following topics:
- The art of Eleonora Duse and the tradition of the Great Actors (Grandi Attori) theatre
- The theatrical revolutions of the twentieth century
- Konstantin Stanislavski and the Moscow Art Theatre
- The works of Edward Gordon Craig and his network of relationships within twentieth-century theatre
- The 1912 production of Hamlet at the Moscow Art Theatre
- Contemporary theatre and performance practices
