Social and Cultural Anthropology and Ethnography Lab
(objectives)
The objectives of the training activity are: a) to retrace some of the conceptual nodes of the ethno-anthropological debate and research, from the overcoming of the concept of race to the formulation of that of culture, up to the deconstruction of the contradictions of culturalism, from the point of view of a new ethnography of contemporary worlds; b) to provide critical elements to address issues and problems related to contemporary globalization as a complex interweaving of local and transnational processes; c) to develop the perspective of studies of political anthropology, in the analysis of the historical contradictions linked to the concept of ethnic identity as well as in the reflections that define the field of multiculturalism, placing them in relation with the migratory realities and in the study of the different forms in which old and new racisms, together with other practices of exclusion, articulate new processes of social construction of difference.
