The course has three main objectives: 1) to provide the basic knowledge about the geochemical and petrological features of igneous rocks as petrogenetic indicators of geodynamic setting; 2) to provide microstructural and petrological skills and techniques to reconstruct the Pressure-Temperature-deformation-time paths in poly-metamorphic rocks (reconstructing the tectono-metamorphic evolution); 3) to provide the students with the necessary tools for understanding of the main methods of isotopic chronology with particular reference to the potential and limits of each method.
