(syllabus)
In relation to the third semester of the LM in Architectural Design, the educational offer is divided into four integrated laboratories, two per channel, respectively of Structural Design 2M (SSD: ICAR09) and Architectural Design 2 M (SSD: ICAR14). The integration of the two laboratories consists in the sharing of a project that is articulated in the definitions of the National Technical Standard on public works: Feasibility Study, Preliminary Project, Final and Executive, and which here, for simplicity, is defined as first and second phase . The first phase is the one associated with: Feasibility Study - Preliminary Project - Final Project, in a not very developed phase, and Second Phase: Final Project, in a more advanced version, and Executive, in a less advanced version than described in the National Technical Regulations, for example without arriving to formulate the specifications and the bill of quantities, but also defining with a certain detail the elements that make up the project, in addition to providing the technical report, which deals with both of the choices and the evaluation of the internal forces and relative safety verification. The aspects that lead to a sustainable work, also from the structural point, will be discussed in as far as possible taking into account the two discipline: Architecture and Structure, in order to arrive at a solution that, in addition to vertical loads, allows an adequate behavior also with respect to the seismic action. It will be possible to identify a significant portion of the project which, developed completely in the 2M architectural design laboratory, can also be developed in the 2m structural design laboratory up to the more advanced phases envisaged in this last course. The implications of possible alternative choices will be evaluated together, both by adopting typical more traditional structural solutions and more advanced and innovative ones, such as for example the seismic base isolation. The main choices concerning the structural typologies will be identified, in relation to possible materials to be used in the structure. The alternatives in the choice of horizontal structural systems as well as of the global one in relation to the intended use and the architectural configuration, taking into account external actions to be considered, which also depend on the location of the construction. The verification of the representative structural model will allow, during the development of the project, to compare possible solutions including local ones, checking the implications that the choices entail also at the level of architectural construction details. The structural tables will be developed up to a rather advanced level of executive detail, to understand the construction and construction difficulties that inevitably affect the choices also at the architectural level.
