HISTORY OF PHILOSOPHY
(objectives)
It aims to offer a broad and developed reflection on a crucial issue in the history of Western Philosophy. The chosen theme is that of Happiness. This will be done through two key moments:
1) a general part (36 hours), which allows the student to learn about theories and texts on the subject produced by the leading exponents of Western philosophy; 2) Lessons dealing with Eudemonism (18 hours). Eudemonism is one of the most significant conceptions of happiness within the history of philosophical thought. These lessons will provide a detailed historical-philosophical analysis of this position, also showing how it has influenced the origin of the so-called "positive psychology", since the last quarter of the twentieth century. Knowledge of this kind of perspective is particularly useful in the context of the degree in FSRU, as it claims to directly connect the pursuit of happiness to the development of the inherent human resources and individual skills.
