Random variables: probability density functions, cumulative density functions. Main discrete and continuous probability distributions. The law of large numbers. Central limit theorem. Statistical Inference: Simple random samples. Parameters and statistics. Point estimation. Confidence intervals. Test of hypothesis: type I and II error, power of a test, p-value. Inference for the mean and for proportions. Comapring two means and two proportions. Inference for two-way tables: the chi-square test.
