Introduction to optics of vision::historical outline, conventions and symbols, recalls of geometric optics Anatomy of the eye and notes on the physiology of the visual system. Schematic models of the ocular optics. Schematic eyes and reduced eye of Emsley. exercises. Axes of the eye and size of the retinal image. The condition of emmetropia and spherical ametropia, definition of a remote point. Astigmatic ametropia and classification of ocular astigmatism. Compensation of ametropia with ophthalmic lenses and contact lenses. The accommodation, definition of a next point, the condition of presbyopia. Ocular aberrations and the quality of the retinal image. From the retinal image to the processing of visual information: outlines of psychophysics of vision, visual acuity and criteria in the construction of optometric tables, sensitivity to contrast, visual field, perception of colors, anomalies of the chromatic sense. Outline of objective techniques for measuring the refractive characteristics of the optical means of the eye.
