THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE A DETAILED REPORT OF AN EMOTIONAL SEMIOTICS. MORE PRECISELY IT IS INTENDED TO ANALYZE THE DOUBLE DIMENSION OF THE PRODUCTION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE EMOTIONS NOT ONLY AS SOMETHING THAT IS STRUCTURED IN A CULTURALIZED CODE THAT MAKES A BASE FOR A CREATIVITY GOVERNED BY RULES AND SUBJECTIVELY CONTROLLED, BUT AS A NATURAL FUNCTION THAT LOOKS ON WIDEST ABILITY TO DECODE THE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS OF EMOTIONS, TO SHARE THE LIVES OF OTHERS AND TO TAKE THE PERSPECTIVE AND ROLE OF THE OTHER. THE COURSE DEVELOPS THIS ATTEMPT IN THREE PARTS: (1) THE FIRST SURVEY THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A SEMIOTICS OF EMOTIONS, THE PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORY OF EMOTIONS AND THE PHILOSOPHICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORY OF EMPATHY; (2) THE SECOND ANALYZES EKMAN'S THEORY ON THE EXISTENCE OF A UNIVERSAL NATURAL LANGUAGE OF EMPATHY AND ITS FACIAL MEASUREMENT OF FACIAL MOVEMENTS, THE FACIAL ACTION CODING SYSTEM (FACS) ISSUED IN 1978 AND REVISED IN 2003; (3) THE THIRD INVESTIGATE THE PARTICULAR CASE OF THE MALE AND THE POSSIBILITIES THAT WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THIS PHENOMENON AT THE BEST, AND TO DECODE IT THROUGH THE MICRO EXPRESSIONS FACIALI DISCOVERED BY THE SAME EKMAN.
