The program is organized in 3 modules: 1) Pteridophytes Module – 1 CFU: Origin of vascular plant and adaptative evolution to land environment. Main groups: Rhyniaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Selaginellaceae, Isoetaceae, Psilotaceae, Equisetaceae, Ferns (Eusporangiate, Leptosporangiate and water ferns). Botanical Garden visiting
2) Gymnosperm Module – 1 CFU: Gymnosperm Evolution. General features and biogeography. Conifers: Araucariaceae, Taxaceae, Cupressaceae, Taxodiaceae; Cycadaceae, Gnetaceae. Botanical Garden visiting
3) Angiosperm Module – 3 CFU: Angiosperm evolution. General features and biogeography. The main families with special consideration for the Italian flora and identification of most common species: Apiaceae, Asteraceae, Brassicaceae , Caryophyllaceae, Cyperaceae Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Fagaceae, Geraniaceae, Iridaceae, Lamiaceae, Juncaceae, Liliaceae, Papaveraceae, Poaceae, Primulaceae, Ranunculaceae, Rosaceae, Salicaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Solanaceae, Urticaceae, Violaceae. Botanical Garden visiting + 3 field excursion.
