MECHANICS APPLIED TO MACHINES
(objectives)
The aim of the course is to train the students to become capable of handling the main issues of mechanical engineering, providing them with methods to apply the theoretical models to the problems in engineering. Hence, the course aims to stimulate the students to develop analytical and modeling skills in order to understand the main physical and mechanical phenomena of interest for the engineering applications. In particular, the students will deal with the classical topics of mechanical engineering such as kinematics, dynamics and efficiency of mechanisms and of multibody systems, mechanical vibrations, tribology and lubrication techniques, transmissions and automotive devices. Furthermore, the students will be able to recognize the best devices to cope with given mechanical functions, within a wide range of topological and structural varieties.
