(syllabus)
The course will address: - first of all, how to build a format in contemporary television, considering the idea of format and its differences from other theoretical perspectives, such as the narrative genre and genres of production; the course will then address a few case studies, as presented in the textbook, considering examples of great interest or success in a national and international perspective. - The course will hence focus on vast narratives in television series; it will address a few main theories about contemporary narratives, but it will also consider the industrial context of production in relation with global economies. The course will focus on a few examples, significant for the radical changes of the last 30 years.
