THE CINEMA OF GIUSEPPE DE SANTIS. Program: The course aims to analyze the path and works of Giuseppe De Santis, from the 1940s to the 1970s. His critical activity in the magazine «Cinema» (1941-1943) is first examined. We reflect on its relationship with neorealism and film genres. Particular attention is paid to the representation of peasant culture and the modern media universe in his films. The major figures of his style are highlighted through a detailed analysis of his works.
