(syllabus)
The first part of the course will deal with the European identity and the process of the birth of the idea of Europe, while the second one will focus on the main topics of European history in the 20th century: empires and nations, wars and revolutions, democracy and totalitarianism, the Cold War and the division between East and West, new balance after 1989. Finally, a third part will cover a case study: Georgia, a borderland between Europe and Asia.
