The course is organised in a combination of lectures and laboratory. The lectures start introducing basic technical topics that are fundamental in order to understand the panorama of architectural approaches. The classical components of a data acquisition system, the issues and opportunities offered by different technical choices are also discussed. A non exhaustive list of the technical topics addressed during the course are: trigger, data acquisition systems, on-line systems, real-time systems, event building, communication networks and protocols, data archiving and mass storage.
