GIUSEPPETTI MASSIMO
(syllabus)
First part of the course in GREEK LITERATURE (Profs. Cozzoli - Giuseppetti): Plato's Phaedrus
The course will take into exam some passages of Plato's Phaedrus, which will provide the basis for a discussion on the most significant aspects of Plato's thought. The dialogue is set in the surroundings of Athens, in the valley of the river Ilissus. This peaceful and idyllic space is the starting point for reflecting about some of the main themes of Plato's philosophical anthropology: the eros as mania (the famous myth of the winged chariot), the relationship between rhetoric and thruth, the value of the writing.
Possible propedeutics: Students are recommended to attend lessons. The course implies the knowledge of Greek.
