Mental Illness in the Modern age
In the second part of the course, the social meaning of mental illness and suffering will be analyzed, especially in the first centuries of the modern age, that is to say in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries (although there will be no lack of in-depth exploration of these issues, for the most part through a comparison with later and more recent eras). Finally, interdisciplinary incursions will be made into the history of art, literature, philosophy, and the history of cinema.
