DE ROBERTO ELISA
(syllabus)
The course aims to describe the phaenomena that have characterized the passage from vernacular Latin to Italian in the fields of phonology, morphology, syntax and lexicon, so that the studend will be provided with a sound knowledge of the main concepts and of the instruments of analisys offered by the historical grammar. The analysis of the origin and the development of the vernacular Italian will be carried out on the background of the historical, cultural and social context in which, in an external linguistic perpective, the most important moment of the huistory of Italian will be studied. To this end the course will take into exam the linguistic evidences produced by half-Italian speaking persons, through the analysis of texts which are usually not considerated in the "official" linguistic history (such as trials for sorcery and bandits' letters)
