The course’s main objectives are the acquisition of the basic knowledges of Roman private law connected to modern and contemporary legal systems and the introduction to legal reasoning by the history of law.

Reference texts will be indicated in class.

- legal theory and history of law
- general traits of the different ages of roman law
- tradition of roman law
- political organization of rome
- sources of roman law
- the roman jurists and their methods
- civil procedure
- law of persons and family
- law of property and possession
- law of obligations
