The class aims at giving the student the required knowledge to understand distributed power generation from renewable resources. Models for performance analysis will be discussed, focusing in particular on power generation and device ageing. Control systems to extract maximum power will be presented. Techological aspects involving smart grids will be presented, among which, methods for power flow analysis, electric network optimization, prediction of power production from variable energy resources and energy storage techniques.
