Acquisition of a knowledge of literary and cultural history of Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America of the nineteenth century and the contemporary era, with particular regard to the interrelation with the social and historical dynamics that have characterized the Spanish American culture of this period. Discussion of issues relating to cultural and literary theories of multiculturalism and multi ethnicity. Acquisition of advanced skills for analysis and interpretation of texts, with particular attention to the methods of philology and historical-cultural studies.
Prerequisites: Spanish-American Language and Literatures II.
