The "era of revolutions" between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries constitutes the horizon in which German literature acquires a European stature by becoming a great laboratory of original aesthetic proposals, often daringly utopian, however in constant debate with the modern world that was born at that time. The module explores the literary and cultural history from about 1700 to 1830, offering threads for an in-depth reading of the texts through the in-depth reconstruction of the historical-cultural context and the analysis of a selection of works among the most significant of the period.

The class deals with main topics and general matters related to German literature between the nineteenth and twentieth century, through the reading of texts from different periods and providing their historical-cultural contextualization.
