FORMATION OF SEDIMENTS AND SEDIMENTARY ROCKS - THE COMPONENTS OF SEDIMENTS AND SEDIMENTARY ROCKS. - TEXTURAL CHARACTERS OF SEDIMENTS - CLASSIFICATION OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS - NOTES ON PARTICULAR TYPES OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS OF ECONOMIC INTEREST (EG. ORGANOGENIC ROCKS, EVAPORITES, ETC..). TRANSPORT OF MATERIALS THROUGH FLUIDS: - TRANSPORT WIND. - TRACTIVE FLOWS. - HYPERCONCENTRATED AND MASSIVE FLOWS (EG. GRANULAR FLOWS, TURBIDITY CURRENTS). SEDIMENTARY STRUCTURES: - PARALLEL AND LOW ANGLE OR HIGH ANGLE OBLIQUE LAMINATIONS. - UNIDIRECTIONAL CURRENT AND WAVE SOLE MARKS (ASYMMETRIC RIPPLES AND SYMMETRICAL RIPPLES), ETC. - STRUCTURES AND DEPOSITS DUE TO HYPERCONCETRATED AND MASSIVE FLOWS: LANDSLIDES, DEBRIS FLOWS AND GRAIN FLOWS, TURBIDITY CURRENTS (BOUMA SEQUENCE), TEMPESTITES. - EROSIVE SEDIMENTARY STRUCTURES (CHANNELS, FLUTE CASTS, GROOVE, TOOL MARKS, RILL MARK ETC..), DEFORMATIVE STRUCTURES (MUDCRACKS, SLUMPINGS, DISH, LOAD CAST, STRANDS, DIAPIRS, CHIPS CLAY), CHEMICAL STRUCTURES (NODULES AND CONCRETIONS) AND BIOGENIC STRUCTURES (FINGERPRINTS , BIOTURBATION AND BIO-EROSION, ASSOCIATIONS OF TRACE FOSSILS). - POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SEQUENCES (FINING UPWARD AND UPWARD THICKENING UPWARD). INTRODUCTION TO SEDIMENTARY ENVIRONMENTS: - CONTINENTAL ENVIRONMENTS: RIVER, LAKES AND WIND SYSTEMS. - TRANSITION ENVIRONMENTS: DELTAIC AND COASTAL SYSTEM. - MARINE ENVIRONMENT: PLATFORM SYSTEMS (TERRIGENOUS AND CARBONATE), SLOPE-TO-BASIN SYSTEMS (TERRIGENOUS SEDIMENTS), PELAGIC BASIN SYSTEMS. - EVAPORITIC ENVIRONMENTS. - ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE OF SEDIMENTS TYPICAL OF THE DIFFERENT SEDIMENTARY ENVIRONMENTS.
