GUIDI ALESSANDRO
(syllabus)
The course is structured in two 36 hours modules.
The first module (first semester) deals with the acquisition of general themes of pre- and protohistoric archaeology (status, history [specially the Italian scene]) and will be dedicated also to the visit of Roman prehistoric museums and/or archaeological sites.
Since 35 years the “island archaeology” conquered the scene, overall in the field of pre- and protohistoric settlement patterns, with books, papers, congress and specialized periodicals. Between the items that attracted many scholars we can remember their first sporadic frequentation, the first stable colonization, the relationships between islands, the networks with coastal communities, a sort of “bridging” of various itineraries in seas and oceans. From more than five years Roma Tre University began researches in the islands of Capri, Ischia and Lipari, in collaboration with other Universities. A first result was the congress Ubi Minor, held in Ischia and Capri in 2014, in which all the teams operating on the Central Mediterranean minor islands presented their researches, whose proceedings will be a milestone in the scientific debate. The proceedings will be also the coursebook of the seminar lesson in the second semester (second module), whose argument is The pre- and protohistoric peopling of minor islands in the central Mediterranean; other texts will be given during the lessons, with an active participation of Italian and foreign scholars.
