Overview of maritime transport system (components, technical terminology and characterization of sea trips);Main characteristics and types of vehicles used for maritime transport (ships, hydrofoils, hovercraft and types of ships); Infrastructures for navigation (channels) and main characteristics of maritime navigation; Type and characteristics of maritime transport services (scheduled and non-scheduled services, point-to-point services or hub & spoke systems); Intermodal transport of goods by sea (multi-modal cycle and complex single-mode cycle); Main characteristics and types of terminals used for maritime transport (components of ports and different types of terminals); Description of the components and the operations of a container terminal; Description of the components and the operations of a Ro-Ro terminal; Approaches and models for the functional design (layout definition, size of storage areas and equipment for handling loads) of port terminals.
