(syllabus)
The course intends to introduce students to the study of hispanic linguistics and to linguistic and cultural mediation between sister languages (spanish/italian). The course is structured into three thematic sections: 1. Overview of the hispanic world: the diffusion of Spanish; varieties and variation; fundamentals of the history of the spanish language. 2. Main characteristics of the spanish linguistic system: typological introduction; focus on the description of the phonetic-phonological level and on word formation processes; lexicon and semantics; introduction to the use of dictionary. 3. Introduction to the concept of linguistic and cultural mediation and to the fundamental theoretical and methodological problems involved in translation processes; interlinguistic and intercultural communication; mediation and translation activities based on simple texts belonging to different contexts of use.
