HISTORY OF MEDIEVAL PHILOSOPHY
(objectives)
The course aims at providing, on the one hand, a historical, theoretical and methodological perspective on the history of medieval philosophy; on the other hand, an introduction to the thought of Thomas Aquinas, through the reading of a few significant texts. At the end of the course, students will have to demonstrate a general knowledge of medieval philosophy and its themes, with particular regard to the peculiarity of medieval thought, compared with ancient and modern philosophy. Students will also develop an understanding of Thomas Aquinas’ metaphysics.
