The course aims at providing students with an introduction to key themes and problems in the philosophy of science, such as scientific explanation, the nature of reasoning and of scientific hypotheses, the cognitive content of theories, as well as the relationship between science and religion. At the end of the course, students should be able to illustrate analytically all of these topics and their connections.
