The course will be devoted to an extensive and detailed analysis of the concept of legal norm. Notwithstanding its obvious centrality in the legal discourse, many aspects of the concept of norm are a matter of deep jurisprudential controversy - such as the structure, the existence, and the application of legal norms. During the course we will study all these topics, with a view to linking the theory of legal norms to the theory of interpretation, on the one hand, and to the theory of the legal system, on the other.
