(syllabus)
The aim of the course is to enlarge the competences already acquired on the spanish language, by dealing with a selection of relevant themes in hispanic linguistics, in a synchronic and contrastive perspective, and by introducing to the activity of translation as a form of linguistic and cultural mediation. The description of the main structures of the linguistic system, focused on lexicon and phraseology and on syntax, will be accompanied by the analysis of real examples of linguistic use in spanish, with special attention to the various dimensions of variation (diatopic, diamesic, diaphasic, diastratic). The linguistic and textual analysis will aim to familiarize students with texts of different genre and typology, and will serve as a basis to carry out various kinds of activity of translation and oral and written mediation. Another part of the module will be dedicated to the illustration of the main instruments used by translators.
