Chapter 1 - What is language typology? Goals, Tools (Statement types, Language samples, Data Sources). Chapter 2 – Lexical typology (Introduction, Words for body parts, Kinship terms, Personal pronouns, Words for numbers, Antonymic adjectives, Words for colors). Chapter 3 – Syntactic typology (Introduction, The choice of words and word forms, The order of words, Syntactic categories). Chapter 4 – Morphological typology (Introduction, The choice of morphemes and morpheme forms, The order of morphemes, Morphological categories). Chapter 6 – Historical change (The Genesis of articles, Wod order change).
