Lectures: This module aims to introduce students to some of the key concepts of translation theory (equivalence, functionalist and descriptive approaches, translation and culture). After an initial focus on translation-based text analysis, students will be shown how to apply translation strategies, instruments and resources (grammar books, dictionaries and corpora) in translating simple texts from English into Italian. Translation tasks will be associated with a variety of text types and genres.
Language improvement classes: Activities aimed at developing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at B2+/C1 level.
Requirements: Students must pass all the language skills exams at the required level in order to access the final oral exam. Lecture attendance is strongly recommended.
