(syllabus)
The course is divided into two modules. The first one is aimed at retracing the formative process of the Italian political system, seen as history of politics, political culture, representation, organization and participation of citizens through political parties, movements and associations. A special focus will be put on the advent of the mass parties, fascism and the role of the parties in the rebuilding of the democracy after the Second World War. The second module, of a monographic nature, retraces birth, development and crisis of the national myth in the history of contemporary Italy.
