| HISTORY OF THE FORMATION OF NATIONAL STATES IN THE 19TH CENTURY
(objectives)
The course provides notions and critical tools for the study of the political history of the so-called "Century of Nationalities", indispensable for the understanding of contemporary Europe. It illustrates the establishment or reconstitution of the nation-states in Central and Eastern Europe and the process of unification of Germany and Italy. The analysis will cover the entire span of the "Long Nineteenth Century", between the French Revolution and the outbreak of the First World War.
