The course will examine aspects and functions of the rediscovery in Roman 17th century pictorial school of the two main 16th century traditions of ‘colore’, i.e. the venetian and the ‘lombard’ one. The works of some of the most significant artists and relevant sources of the time will be studied in order to examine the so called ‘neovenetian season’ and the rediscovery of Correggio in roman artistic culture of the 17th century.
