Beyond Caravaggism: Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi (about 1600 – 1653) (6CFU)
The course aims to analyse Orazio Gentileschi’s and his daughter Artemisia’s ouvre. The two painters were the most personal exponents of Caravaggio’s painting and caravaggesque international movement. Stylistic reading of the paintings and reconstruction of the artistic career and lives of the Gentileschis will be the method use during the course. The knowledge of Caravaggio’s ouvre is basic for the course. During the course lectures about paintings’ identification will be given.
