Object of the course is the Islamic legal tradition and its historical development in the different areas of Islamic world. The comparative approach to the study of Islamic juridical institutions (with main reference to family law and criminal law) will be used to show the peculiarities of a system based on a divine law and, at the same time, the influences exercised on it by other legal system (i.e. the so-called Western legal tradition).
