(syllabus)
Unit I - 6 cfu (36 hours). Environment, economy, society in Italy (centuries XIX-XX). The course consists of two parts, perfectly complementary. The first part, introductory, intends to provide an essential framework of environmental history. The second part, quite wider, intends to analyze, with reference mainly to Italy during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, environmental changes that accompanied the use of resources and the more general dynamics of development of economy and society. Particular attention will be paid to the analysis of identifying characters (knowledges, cultures, mentalities) that the relationship with the relative environmental contexts and the directions for use of the relative resources have imprinted to the local societies.
