-Contents (subject): THE COURSE AIMS AT DEALING WITH FOUR MAIN SUBJECTS: A) THE GNOSEOLOGICAL AN EPISTEMOLOGICAL BASIS OF THE SOCIOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE AND ITS SOCIAL CONDITIONINGS; B) THE STANDARD RESEARCH APPROACH IN SOCIAL SCIENCES, THAT IS THE “METHOD OF THE ASSOCIATION”. IN THIS PHASE VARIOUS TOPICS WILL BE EXAMINED: SAMPLE, PROPERTY, OPERATIVE DEFINITION, VARIABLES, INDICATORS, INDEXES; C) IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE QUALITATIVE SOCIAL RESEARCH TECHNIQUE, THE COURSE WILL IN PARTICULAR CONSIDER THE QUALITATIVE UNSTRUCTURED INTERVIEW, THE ANALYSIS OF WRITTEN TEXTS AND EVERYDAY CONVERSATIONS, THE OBSERVATION, THE STUDY OF THE VISUAL DATA; D) THE DEBATE CONCERNING THE RELATION BETWEEN CATEGORIES, MEANINGS AND CONTEXTS, OR ALTERNATIVELY THE STUDY OF SELF IN EMBODIED INTERACTIONS. -Objectives: THE COURSE AIMS AT PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH: A) SOME ELEMENTS ON THE FORMS AND TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE WHICH IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE OF THE SOCIAL REALITY; B) TERMINOLOGICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL BASICS PERTAINING TO THE USE OF THE DATA MATRIX IN THE “METHOD OF THE ASSOCIATION” WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE STANDARD SOCIAL RESEARCH APPROACH; C) AN INTRODUCTION TO SOME SOCIAL RESEARCH TECHNIQUES, CURRENTLY UNDER EXPANSION, WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE NON STANDARD/QUALITATIVE APPROACH; D) AN ANALYSIS OF SOME RESEARCH APPROACHES CONCERNING THE CATEGORIES IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES OR, ALTERNATIVELY, AN INTRODUCTION TO SOME TECHNIQUES TO ANALYSE THE PRESENTATIONS OF SELF. -Requirements: NONE. -Teaching methods: THE COURSE CONSISTS OF CLASSROOM LECTURES. IN SOME OCCASIONS, EXPERTS IN A PARTICULAR TOPIC WILL BE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN LESSONS DEALING WITH A SPECIFIC SUBJECT, IN ORDER TO OFFER STUDENTS USEFUL IN-DEPTH TEACHING. -Assessments: IN THE PRESENCE DURING THE LECTURES. FINAL ORAL EXAMINATIONS AT THE END OF THE COURSE WILL TAKE PLACE DURING PLANNED REGULAR SESSIONS IN JUNE-JULY 2016, SEPTEMBER 2016, AND LATER SESSIONS, IN THE DATES, HOURS AND LOCATIONS PUBLISHED ON THE ELECTRONIC PAGE OF DR.
