(syllabus)
Course Title: Politics and society in Italy from the Jacobin Republics to the italian Unification (1796-1861). The course aims to analyse the consolidation of the identity and national sentiment in the ancient Italian States before the unification of Italy. Will be analyzed in detail the historical events related to Italian French period, the first revolutions (1820-21, 1830-31 and 1848-49), the process of unification. Particular attention will be paid to the political lexicon, the debate on the form of the state and relevant aspects of the society and the memory of the italian Risorgimento.
