(syllabus)
The course is divided into two parts. In the first part the major themes of Medieval Archaeology will be exposed. After an introduction to the history of the discipline, the lessons will focus on: the change in settlement and housing in the early Middle Ages, the history of the towns, the transformation of the funeral customs, the change in the rural settlement from Late Antiquity to the end of the Middle Ages, the Archaeology of Production.
In the second part the students will have the opportunity to investigate, expose and discuss one specific topic. This year the topic is: Archeology of identities: gender and ethnic in Italian Middle age.
During the course visits to museums and monuments of Rome are planned.
