The critical edition of medieval romance texts
The course will be focused on the main methodological problems in ecdotics and textual criticism with regard to medieval romance narrative, through examples in two or three Romance languages. It will therefore examine the process of establishing a critical text: the handwritten tradition, the importance of variants and error, building of a stemma codicum, the critical edition of a text.
