MONTUORI LUCA
(syllabus)
Prerequisites The class seeks to investigate, with theorical lectures and projects, new residential models with particular emphasis on the problems connected with new forms of dwelling in heterogeneous communities. During the class students will work on a housing project in urban context matching typological as well as technical problems. During lectures students will receive bibliographical references to work on the general layout and detailed examples for specific projects.
Course programme Students will manage a project of an entire building, or of an urban complex, even designing some parts in details, with the aim of understanding the technological and design consequences of the design of forms.
(reference books)
The bibliography will be suggested during the course

PALMIERI VALERIO
(syllabus)
Classes will concern the typological analysis of buildings similar to the one dealt with during the year, for both dimension and use; at the same time they will approach the problem of urban context and landscape understanding. Constructive as well as language features will be examined, by explaining their interdependences and the differences of their mutual coherences. The didactic units will help to draw an in-depth analysis of the problems related to the economic evaluation of technical choices and to drawing representation. The application will be the project of a small-scale housing building, hosting some local shops, within the fabric of the historic periphery of Rome.
Course programme Students will manage a project of an entire building, or of an urban complex, even designing some parts in details, with the aim of understanding the technological and design consequences of the design of forms.

VIDOTTO ANDREA
(syllabus)
Students will manage a project of an entire building, or of an urban complex, even designing some parts in details, with the aim of understanding the technological and design consequences of the design of forms.
Architectural Design Laboratory. Third Year Students will develop a housing project on a site placed in the suburbs of Rome. Among the main issues a balanced relation with the existing context will be given great importance. The building types have to accomodate different kinds of dwellings for “people of all ages” and with various needs in terms of inner space and functional organisation. The total amount of dwellings can vary between 30 and 40 and the heights of the buildings between 3/6 storeys in a high-density housing estate. An urban plan proposal should be defined first by groups of students (6/8 each) and later developed in different architectural solutions (max 2 students). The projects will refer, in general terms, to environmental sustainable criteria, and students are free to go deeper in more specific definitions according to the focus of their architectural result. Model 1:200, renderings, drawings in different scale ( 1:500, 1:200, 1: 100 - for cross sections and dwelling plans- ) are necessary for the presentation and discussion of the final project. Practical and theorethical work will proceed toghether during the semester course.

CONVERSO STEFANO
(syllabus)
Digital Design Systems The class will introduce the concept of digital design technology through the well-known concept of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Students will be asked to develop a digital model of their design studio project, with a focus on data production. The models will based on simulation of building elements used in order to evaluate at early stages of the process structural, environmental performance, cost analysis. Students will learn at the basic level how different disciplines require different sets of data and how to develop models that help to produce them according to the architectural design during its development. All the work will be published in real time in a web platform, in order to simulate the structure of a real contemporary multisciplinary design environment. The module introduces to methods and techniques of the computer aided design that can help in some critical steps of the design process.

FINUCCI FABRIZIO
(syllabus)
Course Contents n the general framework of the evaluation topics, the module aims to provide the specific theoretical and methodological tools for the real estate appraisal and the evaluation of environmental, landscape, historical and cultural resources. The main concepts of microeconomics, the basics of estimation theory and the methodological procedures for value judgments are considered basic knowledge for the understanding of the estimating values and the economic variables generated by an architectural and urban project. Criteria, procedures and appraisal's techniques are suited to different stages of the project, solving in each scale specific problems. The module also provides methods and criteria for the appraisal of the use value and the non-use value. Basics of technique and methodology for the assessment of projects, program and plans are provided, in response to specific feasibility profiles, considering the evaluation as an active, logical and methodological tool to support planning and design. Specifically, the module deals with : Basics of Microeconomic: elements of theory of value, economic goods, markets structures, market pricing, general equilibrium theory, consumer choice, production theory. Appraisal fundaments: appraisals theory, appraisal principles and methods, basics of statistics, basics of mathematical finance, market value, cost value, marriage value, development value, substitution value, use value. Basics of plans, programs and projects evaluation: financial, economic and multidimensional approaches.
